Physical Description:
Sophie is rather peculiar girl, including all five foot four inches of her. Shoulder length nearly platinum blonde hair that seems as fine as silk, hanging around her shoulders loosely. She typically wears her hair down, if you define typically as nearly every day of the year. However, you can catch her with it pulled up if you actually take the time to follow her every single waking moment following her around. Then, quite possibly, you might see this blonde curtain pulled back swiftly into a high ponytail or maybe a braid of sorts. She avoids this look since she says that it makes her look more childlike, which she doesn't need help in that category. Once upon a time Sophie would wear her hair up all the time, but as she grew older and more rebellious, she started wearing it down.
Her facial appearance is one to note also. Her silvery gray eyes, seeming to always look at things with an innocent wonder, are slightly over almond shape and lined with a thin line of fine lashes. Her nose, evenly pointed and fitting onto her structures, seems to have never had a blemish painted onto it. Further down you find her shell pink lips that are always in a half-smirk, if not a smile. All this is complimented by her fair skin tone, evenly tanned as it seems by the sun's rays, but this however is false. Sophie doesn't much like being outside much, at least in the day, but her skin tone seems to be this color on every day. Her appearance is somewhat mixed with an Asian decent, and you wouldn't be surprised if this were the fact.
Her build is complimentary to this detail, not only because she only stands five foot four, but because of her small build. It could be described as willowy, delicate, or just tiny, but it wouldn't seem to matter. It seems that you could say this and still it wouldn't be enough. Her arms are long, somewhat lanky almost, and seem to lack all sorts of muscle, and her legs seem to follow suit. However, I wouldn't deny the fact that this girl could do some damage to you. A clean slap or kick would be simple for her, and everybody knows that girls are notorious for their painful slaps. It may not just be the girl in her, however, that makes her such an odd opponent to go against.
Yet another fact about Sophie is that she is an anthro'. Her natural grace, rather amazing climbing abilities, and her quick reflexes are the result of her being a half-human half-cat. Somehow, Soph manages to hide a pair of cat ears that blend in with her hair, and a small cat tail. Her muscles and bones are designed so as to take the damages and high jumps that cats can accomplish, and under her fingernails she even has retractable claws. Her cat-like features are almost always hidden, unless she has to make a quick escape or is forced to fight. So, even though this girl may be small, I wouldn't underestimate her powers against you. Not only are you fighting a girl, but this kitten has claws.
Personality:
Sophie is your typical anthropomorphic teenager, well as typical as it is possible to get when you’re mixed with a non-human counterpart. Though living at the moment as a thief, she is still into the latest trends and whatnot set up by the ‘popular crowd’. If she didn’t live her life as a partial criminal, she’d be the kind of girl that everybody would know about for her positive outlook and easy way of getting along with nearly anybody that she has had the fortune to run into. This attitude may seem a bit childish, but Sophie has the uncanny way of acting like a little kid, but getting the respect of a typical teenager.
A bright characteristic of Sophie is her thoughtfulness and curiosity. This she seemed to inherit from her playful cat side, finding entertainment in the little things. I wouldn’t put it past her to come up with some games from yarn or anything. She’s a very creative girl, which might be the main reason that makes her such a great thief, but she doesn’t always use this art for evil. Something rather un-dark is her ability of drawing, which she uses to recount important events that she needs to remember later and the random inspirations that seem to pop into her head. Either way, it’s a great way for her to non-violently express herself.
The one thing that you could call dark is her appreciation for the darkness, her ability to hide and not be found. She can be extremely blunt and pessimistic to the point where it could get to a point of mentally harming somebody. This quality she likes to call her “I don’t give a care,” which is around when she’s not playing Goody-Two-Shoes for the elders or when she’s bunkering down for the time being. If you cross her path negatively, she is quick to attack in her own personal defense. Some would call this paranoia, but she refuses to use such terms. She calls it real. Either or, she isn’t the most common of the people who you will run into around here.
Weapon:
The double-edged tradition Japanese blade, known as a katana, works as a double weapon. Its first use is it’s obvious one, as a quick defense. She keeps it in a sheath that stays attached to her hip at all times, easy for a fast draw and a slow medieval effect. The blade is clean steel, seemingly always spotless, despite how many people it may have taken down. The handle is woven traditionally to get her a good grip, not too tight where she can’t wield it effectively, and not loose enough to slip. It’s sheathe is a cool mahogany wood, matching the diamond pattern on the handle. It’s a formidable blade while in the hands of somebody trained for it. Which, Sophie is.
The second use for her blade is to channel her powers. The dark mahogany wood stands for peace and tranquility, keeping her from damage from the ghosts, and the steel keeps her focused. Sophie’s blade also works as a talisman, making it so that she must call upon to the ghosts to be seen instead of them randomly talking to her. This works in two different ways, making her look less insane since she’s not talking to herself, and also keeping her safe from ghosts that want to come back and bring death upon the human race. If she were to lose this weapon, it wouldn’t be good for her at all, or the person who stole it. She would stop at nothing to get to her sword.
Magic Powers:
Saceïas Pret Lv 4
Sophie’s exact power has not been pin-pointed to a specific ability. You can hear physic thrown around, but Sophie is pretty sure this isn’t the fact. She was of dark affiliation after all, and physics were supposed to be helpful to all of the people doomed to live in this world. She has settled on a single term… Necromancer… It has two main definitions . One being a practice of communication with spirits of the dead in order to predict the future, pretty much meaning the person in question can speak with the dead and convince them to talk about current events. The other one being black magic, or sorcery, practiced by an individual. Her power requires either intense concentration or a recitement in either Japanese or Latvian. She prefers the latter.
Either way, Sophie could be considered a sorcerer or witch. Her drawings, though she is not aware of it, are inspired by the fact of ghosts whispering to her, putting ideas in her heads. Whether they tell the future or the past, she has yet to discover, but one this is for sure. You shouldn’t mess with her if you don’t want to taste a bit of black magic. With more practice, and once she realizes her full powers, she will eventually be able to make the dead rise again, but until she finds this particular fact out, she is left with communicating with ghosts and poltergeists, working to figure out why they’re still on earth and even getting a favor or two from them in exchange for her services.
One the most major exchanges that she got was able to use her black magic to, with much strain and calling upon many spirits, alter some of the shadows to help her travel between worlds. She has only done this once, and that was to get back to Transverse Town after a freak accident. Sophie hasn't risked pulling off the stunt once more, since it leaves her physically and mentally drained and useless for almost a week. It's the hardest trick in her book, and that she pulled it off once was more than weary on her dark soul. Her powers are strong, but they come with a big price. She uses them only as a last resort, when all other choices seem to be gone from her options.
Home World:
Traverse Town, though when she ran away, she would sometimes end up spun off to other worlds without meaning too.
History:
Sophie was born into a family that was as boring as all gets out. Her father was a cat and her mom a shape-shifter, which made her something people called an anthropomorphic. Or so, that's what her memory supplies her with. After ten years with her parents, in which she didn't spend much time around anyways, this rebelious girl went to what was said to be the edge of the world. Here, she wished that she could find a place that wasn't as boring as the world she was now stuck in. Something must have heard her plea, as in her dreams that night she could hear whispers, instructions, on how to escape this fate.
When this happened, and Sophie woke, she followed the instructions and went back to her location that she had been at earlier. Then, a shock seemed to resound through the town, and a flurry of shadows erupted and started consuming the world. Sophie, almost eleven at this point in her life, was frightened, but a luring voice told her what to do, promising her to follow the shadows and embrace them. She was worried about this fact for a bit, but she soon closed her eyes and just let the dark shadows wash over her. At first, she could feel all the sides pressing against her, maing her feel almost claustrophobic. When she tried to move, she seemed bound and she couldn't cry out. It was the single most terrifying thing in her life.
The feeling soon passed, and she learned that the darkness wasn't that bad as she led a short life in a town that she had stumbled across. Soon, she was able to use her necromancy to call upon some of the darkness and transfer through different worlds. She feared the darkness for a while, but she was able to accept it enough to call upon this strange power to get back to her home town, where she now roams as a thief. There are no more records of her transferring through the worlds, but you would be a dunce to say that she hasn't attempted to do it more than once in her past. Of course, there are so many worlds to explore and so little time...
Family/Past or Present Relations:
When Sophie was little, she ran away from her parents in Transverse Town. Her relationships with them are minimal, since she doesn’t come back to her normal house except for a place to stay when she has no other place to stay. She is aware of a younger sibling, but other than it was born after she ran away, she doesn’t know a thing about the little creature that was born unto her most unfortunate parents.
Role-playing Sample:
Sophie looked from the boy who she had stumbled across, his glare seeming to pierce deeper than her skin, and her finger twitched to take hold of her dao. She had seen this boy around the town and knew who he was, if not by name. He had threatened her once in this town that her stealing from here would be a penalty of death, but she had easily cornered her, without even making a flick of her dao. It could be said that she was being cruel, but the kid seemed like he wasn't going to give up. He just didn't understand that she followed her own rules, and telling her what to do was like trying to memorize the lyrics to your favorite song... Backwards... And in French.
Her hand rested on the hidden sheath, as she narrowed her eyes at the boy who seemed so keen on getting her out of this town. "Saceïas pret," she said sharply, pointing her other hand at the boy. The earth seemed to shake, and a faded hand pushed through the hard road, not disrupting anything around it, stroking against the boy's leg. The boy seemed to jump a foot, and Sophie gave a sadistic laugh, the tone cold and hollow. "Please understand that my friend there is one of many," she said calmly, snapping her fingers and the figure seemed to disappear from sight, though the boy still looked on his toes, waiting for the next special effect. When Sophie remained silent, he moved forward and then took off running.
Sophie moved forward and brushed the dirt where the spirit had rose through. "Gars, jûs esat noraidîts," which translates to spirit, you are dismissed. She stood then and focused on the nearest edge that she could see, her muscles automatically bunching for the jump, her golden cat tail flicking as she easily sprang seeming to fall into dark space as she traveled through the shadows that connected between her world and this one. This was her first shadow travel, probably one of many, which she knew what a dangerous trick, but she needed to get home. It didn't matter that the shadows were threatening to invade her very soul, because she already knew they had. It hadn't killedher yet, and that would, if anything, before her quick shadow travels...
